The twentieth installment in the Dragon Species series.

The Purple Lynx Dragon is named thus for its characteristic facial and ear tufts, as well as its short, fluffy tail. Because of the long 'beard' and 'mustache' tufts, this dragon is also often referred to as an Eastern Mourner. The latter moniker is perhaps more useful when attempting to fit this species into the list, as it is a part of the Mourner family. The uniform trait of these dragons is the curious purple color (though it can be darker or lighter than pictured) of their coats, as well as the fact that they have coats at all; even Crested Blacks and Crested Blues have scaled pelts, albeit soft ones.

Curiously, the manes of Purple Lynxes are very clean, straight, and shiny. It has even been reported that the manes "smell good," however this claim has yet to be substantiated. However, it cannot be argued that these dragons almost always have very nice manes, leading scholars to believe that they have some primitive method of shampooing and conditioning their manes. Though it may sound bizarre, such things would fit Purple Lynxes perfectly, as they are notoriously proud and vain. They make very good study subjects, since they have no qualms about posing for a painting or camera.

Purple Lynx Dragons are sentient and social, but tend to associate in small packs of five or six, usually a single family unit, though they have been known to take in rogues and strays. They range from approximately 11 to 15 feet in height, and are astonishingly quick.
